Split Decisions

Sometimes a split decision to do something turns out to be either AWE.SOME or a complete DOWNFALL. We have made our fair share of these types of decisions.

Yesterday was one of them. After an email from our friend Kara, we decided to host an exchange student for a few weeks, until a permanent home can be secured. This split decision wasn't to hard to make, though we are just as nervous as this young man might be. Will he like us? Will he like the States? Idaho? Time will tell. I think this is going to be an awe.some experience, for many reasons!!

We have talked about hosting a student before, months ago. We feel it would be a really cool experience for the most part, however we lack the extra bedroom and bathroom we would like to offer a student. But, in a pinch, Landon's room can be a guest bedroom, and we can share the bathroom. Which is why we decided that we could be a Welcome Family to Narut. Landon will take the guest bed which is downstairs in an open area of our unfinished basement and he has done so willingly. He also eagerly put all his clothes in our closet for now so that Narut has space for his things. I would like to get my hands on some sort of desk for him, and a different bed spread for the twin bed. I am nervous that he won't like my cooking and that he might be overwhelmed by our happy and outgoing and wild kids. Time will tell!


Just looking at them makes me think, WHOA! Wild, right?

He will be coming the first of this upcoming week, from Bangkok, Thailand. We are eager to have him spend some time with us and introduce him to our life and things we do. Whether we enjoy his company for a week or for 4 weeks or for two months, we feel we will gain a treasured memory. And then, someday, when we have a bit of extra space to really spare, will we sign up for a full term, one year student.

"WELCOME, NARUT!"
hope he is excited for this journey ahead,
not matter where it takes us!
