With the end of school and Memorial Weekend, seems to me like it should be summer. And though Monday started out looking like it would be a nice summer day, it was nothing more than a typical day in Idaho.
The cold breeze and spitting rain was just enough to force us girls to wear hoodies and use blankets as we sat out side to visit. The kids resorted to the WII and a movie. Boo. When it did clear up for 15 minutes, Camille grabbed every hoodie, jacket and bathrobe to keep the kids warm as we hustled them outside to play. Lilly was chilling with her dad, snuggling on his lap, and Jocelyn couldn't bear to miss the movie, which left Catelyn the lone girl, to fend off the boys. Jaxon, Jaden, Josh, and Landon chased her around like mad. It was pretty funny.
The food was awesome, and the company was better than that. I laughed so hard at Camille's story about her trampoline blowing away in the wind. Even though that part isn't actially that funny. It's the people in her story that crack me up! Hil.ari.e.ous.
We didn't make it out to any graves this year. It's kinda funny when people ask us about it though. Like it's the one place we want to go on our day off! We love our loved ones who have passed on and I hope they understand. We think about them a lot. Kyle sees headstone after headstone, on a near daily basis, so it's okay I hope with them if we didn't make it out this year.
We have in years past and we will try again next year. I think it's terribly important for kids to have that kind of experience. No one wants to plan a funeral, or think about it, but it's a part of life and important to remember those who have served our country in the military branches and those who we have to thank for our genetic quirks and looks.
(I didn't get a photo of Pete and Dana! Darn it! I think it's because they were in two comfy chairs 10 feet apart. and I kept thinking I would get one of them together! Oh well!)
