Spring Break Getaway

So off we went for the weekend to SLC so I could attend my first UTRWA meeting and go to the Festival of Colors with Janelle, Ryan, Courtney and Chad, with kids in tow.  Janelle and Ryan and I took my kids to see this funky park, shopping, out to lunch, and to the park, and then we hit a little indoor amusement park.  It was a good trial run for Disneyland someday. They panicked at the idea of a roller coaster or spinning at mildly fast speeds.

I told them if they didn't buck up, I'd never take them to D-land, and that cured just about every fear.
Good thing too, because they're going to have to stomach Lagoon next.

The Festival wasn't so bad.  Mildly worried about losing a kid, I tried not to freak out about the filth of it all.  Did the kids LOVE it?  Ah, that would be a YES.  Did I?  Not so much, but I was battling a headache and knew I had to drive home immediately after the party was over.  Would I do it again?  Yes, but without the kids.

By far this Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Sunday was to die for.

And I had orange snot for two days, I think.

And within 24 hours of getting home, I had to pull my life together enough to make these scrumptious treats for the Youth Fireside we hosted on Easter Sunday.

YES.  IT WAS EASTER when I pulled into the drive at 12 midnight.  So that was fun.

We barely survived Sunday.  The fighting and overly-tired children turned into rabid dogs, biting at each other and barking so loud, that I took all the candy away.....and when Monday morning came I kicked kids them out the door to get to school with a smile on my face and then tried hard to resist licking the chocolate drippings off the counter from the night before.

Now, let's chat about that meeting real quick, yes?

Thought you'd like to hear about that.

I found myself driving north from Janelle's place and in the mist of late morning traffic, I grew a bit nervous in the back of my mind.  I felt a little bit like a fish out of water... but more like my tank was being cleaned, and when I was put back in, I felt my groove return.  Most of the gals I met were overly kind and welcoming, and I was invited to join them for lunch.

I hadn't expected that.

At lunch, the true mingling began, and I enjoyed my time.  In June, when I get to go again, I'll be sure to plan on the lunch portion of the meeting and plan the time to stay long enough to get to know them better.

As far as the instruction went, it was entertaining and educational, and while it didn't apply to me just yet, I appreciated the energy and encouragement.  It was about blogging of all things.  And  while I don't have a fan club to blog too, I have me, and my family to blog about and for.

I officially joined the group this past week, and am not a part of the action.

And I walked away with goals of doing better about capturing memories and blogging them.  And then it took me nearly 3 weeks to do just that.  (Sheesh!)

But in my defense, I've been busy with that musical I'm in, remember?

After it's over, I'm seriously getting serious about blogging and writing.
